About SalinumSalinum is saliva substitute, and is designed to relieve the symptoms of dry mouth by providing an alternative lubrication source, other than saliva. Salinum is presented as a liquid, containing a linseed extract that contains gel-forming substances (polysaccharides). These polysaccharides have been shown to have good lubricating qualities. Salinum can offer symptom relief for about one hour, in comparison to one of the most commonly used substances carboxymethylcellulose, which only provided relief for about half an hour. One study showed that patients using Salinum showed a slight improvement in gum bleeding and dental plaque; this may be because the lubricating qualities of Salinum allow patients to clean their teeth more easily. Salinum is preserved and buffered and sugar-free. Salinum may be taken in doses of 2ml. Presentations may include a 300ml bottle or individual doses of 2ml, depending on which country you live in.
